The study in the Community Health Nursing Department began in 2009, one year after the establishment of the branch of the college in Damanhour. This department has continued to provide both theoretical and practical education in the field of community health nursing and environmental health services up to the present time, aiming to provide healthcare to individuals, families, and communities. The department comprises six professors, five lecturers and 20 on-the-job assistant staff.

Objectives
- Prepare highly competent male and female nurses in community care according to academic standards in the field of community health, to provide comprehensive, safe, and accurate healthcare for individuals and communities.
- Develop skills in solving health problems and multidimensional dilemmas, enabling students to perceive, analyze, and constructively interpret community needs.
- Enhance continuous personal and professional learning skills by keeping pace with rapid advances in science and knowledge.
- Encourage the implementation of projects and research based on the health status of populations and communities, directing their results towards enhancing community health.
Participations of the Department
- Firstly, regarding postgraduate studies and scientific research:
- The department began postgraduate studies in the spring of 2017, and faculty members teach courses in the diploma, masters, and doctoral programs based on the credit hours system and aligned with the college’s research plan.
- Faculty members of the department have published approximately 150 scientific research papers in the field of specialization, consistent with the research plan, in international journals with impact factors and local journals.
- 48 students have enrolled in masters and doctoral programs, with 20 masters’ students and 3 doctoral students having defended their theses since the beginning of postgraduate studies in the department.
- Approximately 10 students have obtained a Diploma in Community Health.
- Workshops on the ethics of scientific research for postgraduate students are held biannually.
- One of the department’s professors is a member of the permanent scientific committee for the promotion of assistant professors and professors.
- Seven faculty members of the department have completed courses from the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority.
- Three members of the department serve as reviewers for international and local journals.

- Secondly, regarding community service and environmental development:
- The department organizes numerous medical caravans biannually to serve the residents of villages in the Beheira Governorate.
- Home visits are conducted to provide appropriate nursing care to each family.
- Educational seminars are held for villagers in the Beheira Governorate on various important health topics.
- Educational seminars on various important health topics are conducted for pregnant women and women attending primary care centers in the Beheira Governorate.
- Health education is provided to students and teachers in schools on various important health topics.
- A comprehensive assessment is conducted of villages in the Beheira Governorate to identify problems and address them with relevant authorities.
- Implementation of numerous field projects in villages, schools, and primary care centers in the Beheira Governorate.
- Thirdly, regarding education and student affairs:
- Faculty members of the department teach the following courses in the bachelor’s program: Community Health Nursing and Epidemiology for the fourth year, Community Health for the third year.
- All department members have been trained to use Microsoft Teams, as well as trained on how to use educational platforms. Additionally, faculty members have obtained accredited certificates from the Supreme Council of Universities on digital transformation.
- Updating course descriptions based on competency-based academic standards.
- Training of department members on hybrid teaching strategies in addition to using advanced strategies of teaching.
- Preparation of a competition for the best presentation of practical training activities.
- Student representation in the department council to participate in decision-making processes such as lecture schedules, exam timings, and official attire for practical training.
