Gerontological nursing depatement provides students with basic information and skills for caring for healthy and sick elderly, identifying the social, psychological and physical problems they face and helping them adapt to these changes, as well as applying the nursing process to care for the elderly professionally to achieve the highest standards of nursing quality in various health care settings.
Gerontological nursing depatement Vision: Gerontological nursing department looks forward to improving the health care provided to the elders and to be a pioneer of scientific excellence in the areas of education, training, research and community service.
Gerontological nursing depatement mission: Preparing students and graduates specialized in gerontological nursing, qualified with basic and modern knowledge and skills in how to deal with the elders in different places, and provide continuous education and training opportunities to enhance competitiveness in the national and international labor market.
Department objectives:
• Meet the needs of the elderly, recognize their strengths, and use them to ensure their maximum independence.
• Training students and health care providers on how to achieve effective communication when dealing with the elderly.

• The department aims to raise the competence and competitiveness of students and graduates by training students in various practical training places to produce capable and competent cadres in the field of nursing for the elderly and to apply what has been studied in the labor market.
• Encouraging students to pursue scientific research and constantly updating their knowledge while providing guidance.
The field of environmental affairs and community service:
Promoting the health and independence of the elderly and achieving successful aging by:
• Implementing educational seminars in homes and clubs for the elderly and various health care setting periodically.
• Implementing various training courses for the elderly and those caring for the elderly in the community and in various health care settings to enhance the health of the elderly and achieve successful aging.
• Creating entertainment programs for the elderly in various health care settings, such as trips and competitive entertainment competitions.
• Celebrating Mother’s Day on March 21 and International Day of Older Persons on October 1, and organizing a group iftar during the month of Ramadan every year.
Postgraduate affairs:
Postgraduate studies began in the Department of Elderly Nursing in 2020.
• The department’s scientific research plan system has been linked to the university’s scientific research system, as well as Egypt’s Vision 2030, to support the educational process and develop research capacity.
