important scientific departments at the Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University, which is keen to provide distinguished education by supporting students with information, intellectual, practical, and behavioral skills in the field of obstetrics and gynecology nursing, which enables students to provide high-quality nursing care to women during different stages of life. It was established with the beginning of the establishment of the College of Nursing in 2009. The department includes 2 professors, 3 assistant professors, 5 lecturers, and 15 on-the-job assistant staff.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing aspires to be a pioneer for scientific excellence at the level of various nursing colleges in the fields of education, training, research, and community service.
Department mission
Providing students with information, skills, and positive attitudes in accordance with academic standards will prepare them to be capable of providing comprehensive nursing care for women during different stages of life and competing in the local and regional labor market.
The department’s strategic objectives:
– Effective contribution to the development plans of the faculty of nursing to develop nursing administrative and executive skills to be a center of excellence at the national, regional, and international levels.
– Preparing highly qualified male and female nurses to care for women (pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and family planning), who in turn provide health care and nursing to the target group.
– Encouraging students to become nursing supervisors who have personal characteristics, critical thinking and leadership skills.
– Encouraging the implementation of projects and research based on studying the health status of women and society and directing the results to the concerned authorities to improve the health of the family and children.
Participation in developing student teaching skills
– The obstetrics and gynecology nursing course is taught to third-year students in the faculty as a theoretical course in addition to practical training in the college laboratory. Then, practical training takes place two days a week in various hospitals within the Beheira Governorate, mother and child health care centers, and family planning centers.
– Research and projects are presented by students for each semester separately under the supervision of the department members who taught the course to the students to encourage them to be creative, innovative, and develop their skills.
– Developing modern teaching methods such as Project-based learning to develop their intellectual skills.
Participation in environmental service and community development
– Participation of the students in implementing awareness seminars for women inside hospitals and maternity and childhood centers on how to perform breast self-examination and early detection of breast and cervical cancer.
– Participation of the students in providing health education to women in hospitals and various centers about everything related to the physical and psychological health of women at different age stages during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, family planning, as well as gynecological diseases to which women are exposed, in order to spread awareness, correct wrong beliefs, and advance society.
Participation in developing the field of scientific research
– The department awards the following academic degrees: – Diploma degree – Master’s degree – Doctoral degree in obstetrics and gynecology nursing.
– Postgraduate studies have been opened in the department since the fall term of 2020 for master’s and doctoral degrees to prepare generations of faculty members and supporting staff, as well as holders of these degrees who hold their jobs in the facilities of Health care to be academically qualified to prepare, graduate and train students.
– Supervising many scientific theses that are in line with the faculty and university’s graduate research plan.
– Projects are presented by graduate students that include conducting introductory seminars on various topics targeting college students, such as the phenomenon of early marriage, pre-marital examinations, cervical cancer, menstrual disorders in girls and dealing with them, and other important topics in order to spread awareness and introduce everything that is new in the field of scientific research.
