Welcome to the Scientific Department of Intensive Care Nursing! The Department of Critical Care and Emergency Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University, was established in 2009. Our department is dedicated to developing the field of critical care nursing through research, education, and innovation. As an integral part of the faculty, we strive to provide outstanding care for critically ill patients while providing our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this specialized field of nursing.
Regarding Scientific Research: In the Scientific Department of Critical Care Nursing, we are committed to conducting cutting-edge research that advances our understanding of critical care practices and improves patient outcomes. Our faculty is involved in various research endeavors, exploring topics such as advanced monitoring techniques, evidence-based practice in critical care, patient safety, and the impact of nursing interventions on patients’ recovery. Through active participation in research, we contribute to building knowledge in the field of critical care nursing and constantly strive to achieve excellence in patient care. The department also includes a distinguished elite of faculty members who have conducted much distinguished research and have contributed to reviewing research in many reputable journals.
Regarding education, our department is proud to offer comprehensive educational programs designed to prepare future critical care nurses to face the challenges and complexities of this specialized field. We offer a rigorous curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical clinical experience. The department’s faculty members teach the following courses in the Bachelor of Nursing Sciences program on the credit hour system: Emergency First Aid, Emergency Nursing, and Critical Care Nursing 1 at the second level, and Critical Care Nursing 2 at the third level. The educational curriculum for these courses is divided into theoretical lectures and practical training. Training in this department is carried out by a number of faculty members who hold high academic degrees, with the assistance of the department’s assistant staff, in laboratories equipped with advanced educational and simulation tools, intensive care units, and emergency units in Beheira Governorate hospitals. Our faculty, experts in critical care nursing, use innovative teaching methods to promote critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and effective communication skills among our students.
Regarding postgraduate studies, the department ensures the application of modern scientific research to the theoretical and practical content of all nursing courses offered to students. The department also participates in the college’s graduate studies program, and the department teaches distinguished, advanced courses, such as the evidence-based nursing course, which prepares master’s and doctoral students for advanced, individual research work.
Regarding cooperation and community participation, the Scientific Department of Critical Care Nursing recognizes the importance of community participation and communication. The department participates in many activities, such as first aid courses for students and employees of Damanhour University and organizing training courses for internship students and members of the nursing staff in intensive care and emergency units in various hospitals. Cooperation lies at the heart of our department. We strive to establish partnerships with other healthcare specialties, including physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and allied health professionals, to enhance interdisciplinary teamwork and improve patient care outcomes.
