The Department of pediatric Nursing is one of the most important academic departments in the College of Nursing that is concerned with child health. The department offers specialized scientific courses in the field of child health, child psychology, pediatric surgery and pediatric medicine. The students are also trained in various nursing skills using many modern learning strategies and active learning in order to qualify graduates to provide highly efficient nursing care at the national and international levels for children. The department also includes a number of qualified scientific cadres, ranging from assistant professors to teaching assistants and demonstrators . The department is also considered one of the distinguished academic departments in the College of Nursing in the field of research, education, and community service. The members of the department strive to achieve the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the nursing program, the college, and Damanhour University. Postgraduate studies were opened in the department in 2021 to teach masters and doctoral degrees inside and outside the college. Pediatric Nursing Department's plan in the field of community service and environmental development is based on clear mechanisms to determine the needs of the college and the surrounding community. In conjunction with Egypt's Vision 2030 in the health axis, which aims for all Egyptians to enjoy a healthy, safe and secure life. Therefore the department organized the following: Clinical training for students in various places (Damanhour General Hospital, Kafr El Dawar General Hospital, and Itay El-Baroud General Hospital), which provide services to the community represented in health education for mothers and nursing services for newborns, premature infants, and children in various hospital departments. Training of students at Damanhur Public Nursery schools, that provide health education to pre-school children about: Proper health habits, such as healthy nutrition and dental care, hand washing and personal hygiene . Developing children’s physical, mental and social skills through various activities. Providing educational videos via the YouTube channel. Organizing educational workshops and seminars via the Internet. Communicating with nursery parents and providing health education. Conducting visits to girls’ orphanages to provide awareness to children and provide psychological support to children.
